CPotential
Long-term, flexible fundraising support from strategic change to reliable six-figure trust and corporate income.
CPotential is a disability charity supporting babies, children and young people with movement disorders.
Background
We’ve worked with CPotential since 2019. They first brought us in at a challenging point for the organisation, when they were struggling to run a school alongside their wider charitable work and needed clear strategic support.
Challenge
The immediate priority was to help CPotential make the right decision for long-term sustainability, while keeping trustees confident and aligned through a complex transition. Longer term, CPotential needed fundraising support that could dovetail with internal capacity, bringing in specialist input when required, without adding pressure to senior leadership or building a large in-house function.
Our Approach
Stabilise and reset (early engagement)
We recommended closing the school and supported the transition through strategy development, trustee discussions and structured decision-making. Alongside this, we delivered trustee fundraising training to strengthen understanding and confidence at a critical moment.
Build income streams through targeted projects (ongoing support)
As CPotential moved forward, we were brought in for specific pieces of work to strengthen fundraising and communications, including:
- developing and writing a corporate fundraising proposition, resulting in six-figure support
- running a Vision, Mission and Strategic Objectives session with trustees, sharpening direction and priorities
- supporting impact reporting, so CPotential could evidence outcomes more clearly to funders and supporters
- creating community fundraising materials to help supporters get involved and raise funds effectively
Deliver consistent income (current programme)
Today, we run CPotential’s trust fundraising programme, maintaining a steady flow of high-quality applications and securing regular grants. This has grown into a reliable six-figure trust income stream each year, one we will continue to build.
Brett Parker, CEO, CPotential“I found the Vision, Mission and Strategic Objectives session with Nick and my trustees to be really helpful. The debate in between the agreements was so useful for me. I felt very supported and left energised for the next stage.”
Results
- supported a major strategic transition, with trustees engaged and confident in the direction of travel
- strengthened fundraising capability through trustee training and structured planning
- developed a corporate fundraising proposition that brought in major companies with substantial financial backing
- delivered improved impact reporting and community fundraising materials, strengthening supporter engagement
- re-energised a trust fundraising programme delivering reliable six-figure income per year
Why this approach worked
This partnership works because it is flexible and cumulative. CPotential can call us in as needed – whether for trustee-level strategy, fundraising propositions and materials, or delivery through trusts – while outsourcing specialist functions they prefer handled externally. That balance reduces pressure on leadership and maintains fundraising momentum.
